Introduction - My first blog

Decided to start with a lil introduction, am 'sort of' GM of a guild named Aegis on Darkmoon Faire EU, which is an RP server in the World of Warcraft.  Aegis itself is a PVP/PVE guild or PVE/PVP guild... depending who you ask.

Currently on the PVE side we are 2/7HC in Firelands, whilst our PVP team tends to focus more on Rated BGs, the Rated BG team is currently at 2.4k rating.

This blog will be mostly focused around the guild and/or raiding.  Although the PVP team is just an important part of a Aegis as the raiders, I'm not a PVPer myself & generally happy to say the PVPers are pretty much self sufficient.

Within guild our structure involves plenty of officers, the emphasis is on me doing as little as possible, not by lazyness but its the nature of the GM role you get enough to worry about without too many day to day duties on top of it.  Generally my role in guild is the worrier.  I imagine the worst, then I plan for the worst & then if/when it happens I impress everyone with my coping skils by implementing aforementioned plan.  Thankfully the worst doesn't usually happen though.

The sort of GM part comes from how I reluctantly fell into the role.  Having been an officer for around a year, when our previous GM left at first I was quite unsure.  I actually changed my mind 3 times in 2 days while our banking officer held the mantle for us.  Eventually I took GM on my alt (Augustie) which seemed like best of both worlds until due to a surplus of healing priests on our raid team Augustie became my main.

The sort of part also comes from me still not really knowing what I am doing.  I mean.. completely clueless.  When I log on to World of Warcraft the very first thing I do is check the log to make sure everyone didn't leave yet.  Every day that people continue to not leave is like a small victory for me.  I then try to sit online inconspicuously for a time to see what people are doing although that never ever works, 90% of the time Mot will say hello to me in guild chat when I log always drawing the attention.  The other 10% of time no one says anything, I get freaked out & have to say hello.

So the reason for the blog is firstly I always wanted my own blog, then today I saw an article in Cosmopolitan (it had free nail varnish!) that inspired me to make one.  I like to write a lot, I'm one of those weirdos that actually enjoys writing essays at uni so it seems like a nice thing for me to do.

I will think hard over the next few days & try to decide what to write my first proper blog about!
